Subbing

Today was my first day subbing since I decided not to teach school this year. I subbed for Alissa at Davis High. It was really fun and it was a well-needed break for me from work. I have been getting homesick for teaching lately. The kids were awesome and so fun. I had one boy ask me (and he was dead serious), "Are you graduated from high school?" I had to laugh and said, "I hope I am graduated if they are letting my substitute teach." I think he realized how obvious the answer was s after the fact. It made me feel good anyway. I still really enjoy my job, it's just that sometimes I miss all those fun things that came with teaching school. Anyway, it was really fun and I hope to be able to do it again.

Woods Cross Basketball

Dave was in the Ogden Standard Examiner last week. He also played an awesome game against Mountain Crest on Tuesday night. He was the top scorer for WX with 18 points. Go Davey boy!! Too bad they lost in double-over time. It is so fun watching him play.

Missionaries

Elder Nefi Alvarez, Me, and Elder Moberly
I had the craziest thing happen last Tuesday night when I was at the church. Some Elders peeked their heads into the Relief Society room and I recognized one of them as a boy that used to attend the Inner City Youth Camp in Chicago where I was a counselor for two summers. I couldn't believe it!!
Nefi Alvarez is serving in the Ogden, Utah Mission and just so happens to be serving in Clearfield right now. I was able to talk to him and his companion at the church for a while and invited them to dinner. They came over tonight and it was really nice. They are spanish speaking elder's so they gave their message in Spanish (well, the scriptural part at least). It's always nice to have the missionaries over. It was especially fun for me to have Nefi over for dinner. I just kept looking at him thinking how ironic it was that he was in our house, eating dinner with us and I used to be his counselor in Chicago. He is one of the nicest boys I know. I can tell that he is such a great missionary.

Vegas Baby!!

The Bellagio

Excalibur

Las Vegas Temple

Spencer getting a little too comfy with the male M&M
Saturday morning Lin and I dressed exactly the same- Oops- and yes I changed

Brett, Lindsey, Spencer and I all went to Las Vegas this last weekend. We had a blast. It was so fun to get away for a weekend. The weather was perfect: short and flip flops!! I couldn't believe it.
We stayed at the Excalibur and it was actually great for the price we paid. It had a great location and the mattresses were amazing! We got there Friday night and just explored the hotel and hung out. Saturday we went swimming and then spent the rest of the day all over the strip. We went to the Coca-Cola and M&M factory. We shopped at Caesar's Palace and lots of other places along the way. We went on the NY NY Rollercoaster- it was really fun. Lin and Brett were in the very front car! We got some good pictures from it.
Sunday we were able to go to church,  to the Las Vegas temple and, we ate at a buffet!! Oh and my favorite part of the day was when I asked a bar tender for a Diet Coke and got carded! Weird, I know. Anyway, we mostly just hung out on Sunday. I mean what else can you really do in Vegas on a Sunday? Monday we went to St. George and the guys got to golf.  My only request was eating at In & Out Burger, so we did and it was just as amazing as ever.
Well, now we are back and it is colder than ever and all I want to do is go on another vacation.
