Kart-Man

This is our awesome 3 year old nephew Karter. He hated his training wheels and begged Mandi to take them off, so she did. Needless to say, he's a natural. He rides with the 8 year old boys in his neighborhood and does tricks and all!! Way to go Kart!!

Antelope Island

Can you find me in the picture below? 

I finally got to go to Antelope Island (for the first time in my life!!) Yeah- I know... sad! Spencer and I were driving home from NSL on Saturday and I had the idea to go visit Antelope Island... not even realizing I had never been there before. 

It was really fun to go walk around and we saw tons of buffalo, antelope, and lots of birds. It was overcast and rained for a little bit while we were there, but that just made the lake and mountains look even prettier. Spencer wouldn't let me take any pictures of him, so you get to see me in all of them, sorry! And if you can't tell by the pictures, I was way excited to be there!! I felt like a little kid again- doing something for the first time.

Home Improvements for CHEAP!

I have been doing little cheap projects around the house for the last few weeks. I thought I'd post some pictures of what I've been up to. I know, kinda boring, but its a good way to journal about it for me- if nothing else.

First, I bought an old end table at the DI for $8 and thought I'd try to fix it up. It didn't look to bad to begin with, but thought it'd be a fun project, so I stained the top and painted the legs. It looks pretty good thanks to the guy at ACE who taught me how to correctly use stain and also matched one of my couch pillows perfectly with the paint I used. Here is a before and after picture.

Next- I have been wanting some pillows to go on our red couches in our family room but could never find any I liked enough to buy. And it didn't help that most of the cute ones ended up being $20+ for one so I decided to make my own! I found some old pillows that have been in my linen closet ever since we moved here. They are the kind you just zip the cover off of and wallah-there are brand new down-feather pillows inside. So I bought some fabric and sewed new cases for them. I am still extremely surprised they turned out so well and with no mistakes on my part. Hopefully they stay together- haha. Thanks again Mom for the awesome sewing machine!! I love it!!

And lastly, I spray painted our dining room chandelier cause it was always a little too silvery for me. I also decided to use that same spray paint to spray a picture frame I didn't like. The frame turned our pretty cool. I did bronze and then white over the bronze and some of the bronze seeped through- not what I meant to do, but I think I like it.

Anyway, hope that wasn't too boring of a post...haha, and sorry if it was.

Island Park

We went with some of the family up to the cozy cabin over Memorial Day. It was so much fun. I think the best part was not having anything planned to do! We sat around and played games, went rafting, four-wheeling, played horseshoes, and just relaxed. We had a blast. Thanks Mom and Dad for the fun weekend. We also celebrated Alissa's b-day!!!

Hill AFB Air Show

Yesterday Spencer and I decided to go to the Air Show at Hill Air Force Base along with a whole bunch of other people!! (good people watching location) It was really fun and Spencer especially loved looking at and in all the huge planes. It brought back so many fun memories of going to the Air Show with my dad growing up.

So yeah... I know that I have been a slacker on the whole blog thing. We just haven't really had anything to blog about lately. But I did make raspberry jam with Lin and Mom this last weekend while our hubbies played in a golf tournament in Brigham City. It was so fun to hang out and learn how to make jam at the same time. The best part is now I have 12 jars of amazing jam in my freezer!! Thanks Mom!!

Oh and we went to Island Park for Memorial Day weekend and had a blast, but I didn't take any pictures, so I need to get them from my mom before I post about it...wait for it....
